What caught our eye? Jamooni Vanilla Cupcake and Pista Phirni Shot.

Woman behind the scene? Keerthana, an ex-Radio jockey, dubbing artist and an ardent foodie!

Highlight? Panner Tikka Stuffed Buns keep us in touch with the old time bakery favorites.

What’s available? Breads, Stuffed buns, Cupcakes, Squashes, Customized Cakes and more.

2. The Dessert Hut

What caught our eye? Fresh homemade chocolates and truffles.

Woman behind the scene? Spearheaded by Azeema Shahul, who envisions to be the ‘best quality sweet tooth caterer’.

Highlight? The packaging is indeed winsome. Baskets and boxes that are customized, elegant with a personalized touch perfect to gift at any occasion of your choice. All cakes are made using fresh cream and no butter cream is used.

What’s available? Available are a range of Mousses, Cheese Cakes, Puddings, Soufflé, Traditional Flan, Customized Fondant Cakes and more.

 3. Oven Dreamz

What caught our eye? European desserts – Choco Vanilla Mousse Dome, Choco Orange Mousse Dome, Vanilla Pomegranate Entremet. Unique dome shaped fancies!

Woman behind the scene? Thanmayee Prem, an Administrative Manager with a spirit of a baker – She bakes even in her dreams and hence the name!

Highlight? Rainbow Push pops were really a delight! Six thin layers of delectable rainbow colored sponge sandwiched with vanilla mousse between each layer. A miniature version of the Rainbow cake!

What’s available? Cookies, Mousses, Cheesecakes, Dessert Jars, French Macroons, Swiss Rolls, Theme Cakes and more.

4. Baker’s Bakes

What caught our eye? Baked Butter Biscuits and Choco Bites.

Women behind the scene? Diana Selvaraj, an MBA grad who assists her dad with his business.

Highlight? Most sought after is her Chocolate Mud Cake.

What’s available? Choco Banana Cake, Rainbow Cake, Brownies, Cupcakes, Cheese Cake Jars, Truffle balls, Customized Theme Cakes and more.

5. Bake O Clock

What caught our eye? Filter Coffee Tiramisu

Woman behind the scene? Sneha Wadhwa, a certified baker from Lavonne Academy.

Highlight? Melange of bakes presented on the table was an awesome visual treat!

What’s available? Oreo Cheese Cakes, Ferro Rocher Jars, Streusels, Puffs, Customized Theme Cakes and more.

6. Anu’s Cupcakes Castle

What caught our eye? Andhra’s special Malai Khaja.

Woman behind the scene? Anusha, a passionate cook turned baker.

Highlight?  Pretty Cheese Cake and Chocolate Truffle Cake Dessert Jars dressed in pinks, yellows and browns.

What’s available? Just about everything cakey! Cupcakes, Cheese Cakes, Cake Pops, Customized Cakes and more.

7. The Saapad Company

What caught our eye? Spiced and steamed muffins! The Indian Rice Cakes just got trendy! J

Women behind the scene? A mother and daughter duo. Roshni and Aanadhi Badrinath, a baker and a caterer as their business cards call them.

Highlight? All bakes are eggless. Zest to work on something different. Innovation is the motivation here!

What’s available? Garlic Pull apart Buns, Double Chocolate Brownie, Samosas, Red Velvet Cupcakes, Mexican Fried Rice, Thai Mango Salad, Dum Briyani (veg) and more.

8. The Baker’s Nook

What caught our eye? Hung Curd Dip in a Jar – A flavorful bread spread.

Women behind the scene? Sundari Saritha Subramaniam, an enthusiastic home chef who loves to get her hands on just about every kind of baking!

Highlight? Simple treats to delight your kids – Chocolate Caramel Toffee and Cake Pops.

What’s available? Brownies, Customized Theme Cakes, Butter Cookies, Dutch Apple Cakes, Tea Cakes, Quiches and more.

9. Alfresco

What caught our eye? Rose like Apple tarts and ready to eat Salad in a Jar.

Women behind the scene? Mercy Lamech, who aspires to bring back Al fresco picnics in Chennai.

Highlight? Customized breakfast baskets of Banoffee Pie, Sandwiches, Salad Jars, Tarts and more goodies of your choice.

What’s available? Breads, Pies, Scones, Welsh Cakes, Tarts, Cake Pops, and more.


Spotting ‘Thepla in Chennai’ was a pleasant surprise. Theplas are a staple from a Gujarati home. Mildly spiced mixture of flours, this flat bread is so flavorful and has a shelf life of a week. Simply delicious when eaten with yogurt and pickle. Best travel companion for your tummy!

What more? Amminis showcased their range of homemade prawn, bitter gourd, garlic pickles. Fill Belly didn’t get lost amongst the home bakers and gathered quite a crowd with their aromatic Biryani.

Over all, these home bakers are ready to experiment their culinary skills even outside baking. But yeah, they breathe baking! For those of us who struggle to get that right batter consistency, or just don’t understand our ovens enough and end up burning our bakes, these are our home made options. So the next time you’ve got an occasion to celebrate, you have these home bakers ready to whip up something absolutely toothsome and drool worthy!
