Kozha Urundai or lamb fritters is an authentic dish that has a heritage and an inherited recipe lineage that women in many South Indian homes take pride in. It is one delicacy that a grandmother wouldn’t miss making for her grandchild.
Similar is the Thanjavur Kair Katti Gola, a signature dish from Maplai. A secret recipe guarded by the restauranteur and his team of chefs. Made with minced mutton and a plethora of delicious spices makes this one flavorful meatball fare not to miss. It is said that the source of the recipe for this particular dish is a lady from Thanjavur, who diligently flavours the cooked mutton with spices, packs them tightly into balls, ties each with a vazhai naaru (banana leaf string) and deep fries them giving an amazing crunchy exterior with a soft chewy inside.
Untie and relish! Head to Maplai to try this wonderful mutton starter.
