The Falooda of the South!

Our answer to the Persian falooda, Jigarthanda literally means ‘cool liver’. This cold milk based drink is said to be therapeutic during the most hottest days. Made with milk, agar agar also known to laymen as china grass, Nannari – an ayurvedic syrup used to sweeten the drink, vanilla ice cream and sago. Filled into a tall glass and served cold, this Jigarthanda is almost filling and is a perfect dessert after an awesome meal. Made popular by the Muslim settlers in and around Madurai, which is still touted to serve the most authentic Jigarthanda. You will find a lot of roadside stalls selling cold Jigarthanda to all and sundry.

You don’t have to go to Madurai to get the authentic Jigarthanda, head to Maplai for some refreshing South Indian falooda.

Nice way to put it – Falooda of South. People from Madurai are very proud of their summer drink and rightly so,
