Waans are something new to hit the Chennai food palate. Waan is a short form used for the Waffle Naan. It’s a beautiful fusion of the Indian Naan and the Waffle Iron. Naan is a flat bread that comes in different flavours, garlic, butter and plain. Waans are made of naan like with pockets, very much like the Pita Pocket. They are stuffed with a variety of fillings; paneer, veggies, coleslaw combined with a variety of sauces. The waan is then grilled in a waffle iron giving it a distinct waffely design on top. Hence the Naan becomes the Waan.
